Just wanted to say hello to all and say I just picked up a 1981 4-speed in Connecticut.

I wasn't really looking for one as I already have a project (A 62 4x4 chevy pick up), but I had been doing work on this one for a friends teenage son and knew it was real solid.

He ran it low on oil and it developed a rod knock (not surprising!) and he lost all interest in it. I tried to tell him an engine is not that big a deal and we could put together an engine theat would run a lot better than the stock 305 but he decided to buy a car with a back seat to haul more friends around.

So anyway, I am looking forward to working on this car with my teenage son and who knows? If he works hard on it with me maybe it'll be his first car in 2- 1/2 years when he starts driving (UUGH!)

Welcome aboard! Another father/son team is great to have around!

And, well, I think there is a high demand for visual aids a.k.a. pictures! Got any?

Fran, how about updating your profile with a location. There's lots of us here that have spare parts and one of us may be close to you.

Welcome to ECC/NECOA Fran. Glad to have another member in New England. My name is Jay Levitan and I'm the regional director for New England. If you would like me to add your name and email address to my regional email list, just drop me a note at jlevitan@holycross.edu. I try and keep members informed of car shows, parts for sale, cruise nights, etc.

Again, welcome and if you have any questions about posting pictures or any other questions, don't be shy. Many people here have a ton of real world experiance that they share. 8)

Welcome to our group, Fran! Always glad to have another New Englander. We've got a pretty active group up here, thanks to Jay Levitan and Ernie G. Lots of free advice and sometimes spare parts for free. Post some photos of your project.
