I need to replace the floors on my 72 El Camino. I know where to get them but I have a question which might sound stupid but this is my first attempt at any restoration. Do you cut out the old floor or does the replacement floor fit over the top of the old unit? Looking at the floor it looks like one piece and I need to replace the entire drivers side and only the front on the passengers side.

Thanks in advance.

8) You have to cut out the old floor. With as much as you need to replace I think there is a one piece floor replacement panel available. One of the other members posted pictures of his Elky after installation.

Antbody out there know what forum it was under??

You have to cut out the old floors. You'll want to anyway because if the floors are rusted out, the cross members will have some rust too. We cut out the old floors and then cleaned up the cross members and Por-15 them.

We left the tunnel in and welded up tho that:

You can get full length panels like we used, or you can get 1/2 panels which might work for you on that one side.
