8) If it's a street drivin vehicle the weight savings is not worth the safety risk! :-(

I have a 64 and a 65 Chevelle. I have had the doors off both. The 64 is a full race car, aluminum floors, glass front end and lightened doors with lexan for glass. The 65 is a show car, and I can pick up the lighted 64 doors myself but the 65 doors take 2 people to handle. I'm sure the Elky doors woud be about the same lightened. What class are you running in? What kind of times are you getting now? Wow, I just though of something...do they even run classes anymore with the new timing setup?? It's been 30 yrs since I had a car on the track.

Just happened to have a set in the garage...

Bare shell, no hardware, with brace intact approx 65lbs
Fully dressed door with glass and window hardware approx 94lbs
I was using the wifes bathroom scale  so measurement is close but not precise.
A fiberglass shell would be a fraction of that

i know when me and my dad was changin the door bushings on my 81 he had me tryna handle the full dressed door bymyself, it wouldnt been so bad if there was somewhere for me to hold cuz 94 aint that heavy, but i had to sit it on a jack..........
