I've been trying to find local events for Louisiana. Specifically, Baton Rouge area. Anyone know of any upcoming events?

Hey Josh. Try and find ECC member "elky72ss454". I believe he lives down in your area and goes to car shows with his 3rd gen gold SS Elky RamJet 502. You can see it under "Members Cars" in the 3rd gen catagory.
He'll be able to help you out locating shows.

Thanks! I'll check it out. I know there are classic car events on certain weekends around town, but I've never heard any mention of one specifically for Elkys. Prob not as big here...should be though! :cool:

Pretty tough around here in the North East to find shows "specifically for Elkys". But what I really look for in a car show is a seperate "class" for El Camino's or Ranchero's. I try and go to those as much as possible to show support for the "class".

I don't like getting lumped in with Chevelles, Camaro's, Nova's and such. My feeling is that those classics were always purchased/used as cars and survived as cars. And they should be judged as that.
While our Elky's were more often used as trucks/cars. And as such, should be judged a little differently or at least separately.

Just my 2 cents worth..

8) On the second Tuesday of the month in Denham Springs there is a club just for ELKYS that meet at the Shoneys @ 7:00. They are looking for new members, For more info call Barney Gomez @ 225-445-2337. I live in south Louisiana also. Have been trying to get to a meeting with no sucess yet. Have a 85 Elky SS ChooChoo. :cool:

Do they still have the Jeff Parish Sheriff's Benefit at Elmwood every month? I miss all those awesome rods down there.

gr8ridejester and bayou elky - Why don't you pick one specific date from those shows in Baton Rouge and try to get all of our NECOA members to join you there? If you give them enough notice and lead time, we can give you a list of members to invite. Now that you have someone named "Jarhead..." to help you, I'll bet you can get a decent turnout? We had a good meeting at the Sonic's and there after. I enjoyed getting to caravan around town to the various places.

Louisiana guys, car show at Clearview shopping center in New Orleans Sat 23, 11. Usually a 100 + cars Veterans highway. 6 pm good turn out nice cars.
