Can anyone offer advise on putting another like year GM A/C parts in my 72 EL Camino SS. The evaporator and items next to the firewall and wiring are still in my Elky, the condenser, compressor and brackets have been removed. Will these parts from another GM similar size auto work in my Elkie. I am considering trying parts from a Tempest or Olds.

Have you tried a Olds Cutlas or maybe a Buick Skylark? How about a Chevelle? somthing along with the same type body style should work, even a chevelle wagon.

I don't know if this helps but...
On the 76 I started out with the original compressor and all. As I started mods and engine replacement and adding tall valve covers I got to a point where the old axial compressor mounts would no longer fit over all of it. This was compounded by the POA valve being very intermittent with 134. It finally just quit working. It would automatically bypass the evaporator and cycle never sending charge through the evaporator. I had a bunch of different people work on it...... I should have taken it down to Round Rock and have Robert rework it. ..........
Anyway I removed all the extraneous crap from it. I changed the Dryer accumulator to one for an 80 or newer, blocked off the capillary tube, used a mount off the 80's engine for the compressor fabbed a bracket or two for the Power steering pump and tensioner arm from the alternator set up off a 60's model SBC some home made spacers and I now have an AC unit that works. Just in time for the winter! I did use the newer radial compressor and the tree worked fine. I looked in Four Seasons catalog found the hose ends I needed and had some hoses made to fit it all.
It is an ugly set up but it does work fine now. Some day I will work on making it look good but for now it works. I would say look at 4th gens but I don’t know that you’ll be able to find one to look at. Seems to me AutoZone or some other Auto parts place would carry them for your year but then I can’t say for sure.

The brackets will have to come from a junk yard possibly "Vintage Air" could have them but I didn't see them. I don't have their web address on hand.
