Have you ever tryed the Mr. Clean auto dry car wash thing. I have been using it for awhile and, as long as I dont go along time without changing the filter, I dont get water spots on any part of my car.

I am not sure about the spots, but the best cleaner I have ever used is a product I get at Wal-Mart called " Invisible Glass " in an aerosol can. Most of the guys at the car shows seem to use it. Give it a try.

Great question. I've tried a few different solutions and what works best for me is a combination of two products from DF Concours (http://www.dftowel.com/). I use their Simply Natural Glass Shine (http://www.dftowel.com/orderGS.html) in combination with one of their Microfiber towels (http://www.dftowel.com/ordertowels.html). Works like a champ. You won't be dissapointed.

The owner of DF Concours is Leo, a fellow El Camino owner and member of ECC out of the New York area.

Hope it helps.

I had read another person recommend this product to get rid of water spots. It is a water filter by Pure Water Products (http://www.pwgazette.com/gardenhosefilters.htm). Something to think about if you have hard water.

If the water spots have etched the glass I've used Eastwoods scratch removal powder and a tight cotton buff in an electric drill. Will also clear away any wiper haze and other road rash.

If I understand correctly his question is not how to prevent the spots but how to get rid of them after they have appeared. Prevention is easy of course, dry the car after washing. If you have really hard water try one of these filters (http://www.pwgazette.com/gardenhosefilters.htm) the car will dry without any spots.

To the question... if a good glass cleaner (thanks Jay for the compliment by the way) doesn't work go to the supermarket and buy a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Use it on the windshield with car shampoo or glass cleaner, it'll be cleaner than you ever imagined. Once done dry the glass and apply a coat of car polish. The polish will protect the glass from further etching. I always po,ish my glass when I polish the car, all the glass looks new.

Try 0000 steel wool and vinegar.

Try 0000 steel wool and vinegar.

If you are paranoid about the steel wool, you can still use vinegar with a soft cloth.

To prevent leaving dust or lint, you can use a coffee filter.

I've tried everything from the Steel Wool & vinegar, many types of car polishes-wax with no luck at all :x

I think I may get that filter setup for my hard water.

Thanks for the link Leo. :-D

and it works very well. I have very hard water and will probally get the filter this spring.

Hey there Garry. If your around tomorrow (Monday, 2/20), I 'd like to see how the elco is doing. I think I have the wrong phone number for you. I have the 860 part, but the rest is tough to read. My lousy handwriting. D'oh. Please email me at jlevitan@holycross.edu with your number.

Thanks,

Jay
