I'm looking for a complete 350 long block with a 2 bolt main for my 8o' el camino. the one i have in it now is about to die and I want more power but i cant spend that much. anybody know of a 350 with a 2 bolt main for under $800?

Don't think you'll find a rebuilt or remanufactured engine for $800 but you could probably rebuild yours for that amount if you do all the work accept machine shop work (machine shop work could be minimal or extensive depending on what's required to get the block, crank rods and heads within tolerances)...You would pull the motor, disassemble it, buy parts needed (rebuild kit) re-assemble it (after necessary machine shop work), re-install it, of course this depends on whether you have all the necessary tools and access to a hoist and engine stand also. This would tie up the car for awhile. It's NOT a job for a novice, and if this is beyond your experience level, you might find a good 350 motor at a boneyard (some boneyards will even warranty it for at least 30 days) or even better, someone selling one out of a car that's being stripped for parts, that way you can check mileage and possibly hear it run before purchase. I don't want to sound like I'm talking down to you, but you didn't give any indication what your experience level is. I realize money is tight and $800 is all you have right now to work with...maybe if possible, waiting a lil while longer so you could put some additional money aside might be a good idea, for around $600 more you could probably get a no frills no thrills 350 crate motor with a warranty. Gm part#10063753 lists for $1375.00 + a $100 core deposit and if you search around you may even find one a bit cheaper.

If memory serves, someone in a recent post has been trying to sell a 307 and TH350 trans for less than 800. Would you be willing to drop a few cubes for the price?

Or there's always the local salvage yards

Maybe you could get a short block (Crank pistons, rods, and block only) for that amount.
