Anybody from region five going to Metrolina this weekend? I'll be there about 10AM Saturday.

It's the 22nd annual Charlotte in January Autofest and Auction. They usually have a good crowd there if the weather cooperates.

I should be rolling in around the same time Darrell. I'm pretty sure I'll be in the Toyota van since the Elky is in bad need of new front end, shocks and springs. I showed my wife where the tires had topped out on the fenders and some nice shiny "rubs" on the frame.

The forecast is "Windy and cooler with some clouds, then sunshine. Winds from the WNW at 15 mph." from AccuWeather.com. I'm wearing my coat and hat.

I am going to try to make it. Jayachee, How did you get your avatar so clear? The pic I used was a high res. but when I shrink it down, it's fussy as you can see. I just can't get it right, could you help me?

Actually, I used the software that came with the camera. It's called EasyShare by Kodak and works quite well. I resized it with the picture manager in XP. I have Photoshop too but didn't bother since the other looked so clean.

And I look forward to meeting you, too, Tommy. Darrell and I are meeting at the inside resturant (main building?) at about 11:00am on Saturday.

P.S. I took some liberty with one of your posted photographs and came up with this avatar stored on my site (http://www.hasclass.com/images/t-avatar.jpg). You can use it or send me another and I'll be glad to crop and resize it for you. By the way, you have a great looking ride. 8-) I love the interior. I, too, am thinking two tone interior; Carmine and black in my case. Hope to paint the exterior in a very deep red like "Black Cherry". :-)

Update on the Metrolina show:

There were probably 100 cars there and my son and I counted 8 Elkys. There was one red 5th generation with a Corvette power plant that was just beautiful. 8-) Also, saw a '79 restored factory that was quite nice but the 305 2BBL really didn't excite me too much.

I also get an up close look at Darrell's (a.k.a. Orfunauto) Elky. It's a sweet ride. He's a great lunch partner, too!

Hate I couldn't make it up there to join ya!!!

Maybe we can get together at the spring autofair.

Any of you guys up for the Hot Rod Power tour?

It will be stopping in Columbia June 6. I have entered and will be making the tour from it's start in Kissimmee Fla to Columbia.

Bigjames, I have also signed up for the long haul tour. I'm doing it for my son-in-law who has been diagnosed with cancer. He's going to be my shot-gun for the trip. We're trying to give him something to look forward to since he has a tough battle ahead of him. I don't know for sure what we'll be driving, either my old dependable 82, or the 63 Falcon 2dr wagon (sorry for cussing on the site)I should have finished by then.

In regards to the Spring Charlotte show, I'd like to set up a time and place to meet with any other Elky enthusiasts that will be there that week. (April 6-9) Members, any suggestions??? :)

I hate I missed it too. Jayachtee, thanks for doing the Avatar for me. It worked great. I have drill as usual for the Autofare but I am tring to go out there friday afternoon. I would like to plan a Camino meet for the middle of April if possible. How does that sound?

I, too, am sorry, Tommy. I was fun, more to meet other Elky owners like Darrell than to see the cars. I did, however, get some good ideas from several of the other Elkys there.

A Camino meet sounds good for mid to late April. I hope I can have "El Hoyo Del Deniro" in better shape by then. My son is using the Elky as a daily driver and daily we find major flaws that MUST BE ADDRESSED to make it into what it should be. We are planning to jack that Elky up and replace almost all the suspension, front and rear.

I'll plan on coming and do what I can to help in any organization. Let me know. I'll PM you my call number but if I forget, remind me.

Sorry to here of the illness in your family.

I'd love to do the long haul but it's all I can do to get 3 days off. Me and one of my longtime friends are going to leave here the fFriday before the tour. I'll be driving Ol Paint and he's taking his 67 big block Camaro.

I'm not 100% sure on when/if I make the Autofair but I usually go to the Spring event. If I do go I'll leave around 3 to get back to Columbia for the first cruise in of the year.

A meet the middle to late April suits me. Our first local cruise in will be the second Saturday in April and I always like to make that one so that would be the only conflict for me.

Darrell, I PMed you about Charlotte in April. I'll be in touch and keep me posted, too.

P.S. You should have told me about your son-in-law on Saturday. Every day counts and I am saddened by the news.
