hey guys,,,,

My 82 305 is having starting issues...

It will start fine when cold, when its warm it will also start ok (sometimes)...

I have already been through the timing issue and have it timed where it should be based on my engine rebuild, and it runs really well..

Tonight when i came home my wife told me that the headlights didn't seem as bright as they should be,,, so i tried to start it up again and no go.......

I noticed earlier this evening when i rolled downt the power windows, they rolled very slow up and down...

Also when i got it started (had to jump it), i pulled the cable off of the neg. side and it shut right down...

.....the battery is relatively new and the starter was tested while i had the motor out of the car... The alternator is about 4yrs old,,, can't remember if i had it tested or not....

Does this sound like the alternator?

I had a dead cell in the battery do that to my '78 BMW before. The alternator was fine. Take it out and put in another or have it tested at a local advance zone type place.

have your altenator tested and battery tested at your local Checkers, Kragens, Schucks, or Big Wheel Rossi's. Verify your porblem before the shot gun approach! Sounds like a battery problem to me! Unless your battery is fine and the altenator is not charging the battery! Test your altenator!

Hi Meeno, hey you might want to look at this site an do some changeing with your alt , by the way a alt has to have 12 volt to make it charge , so takeing off the battery cable doesn't show that it is good or bad . check with a meter , ok try this www.carcraft.com/techarticles/116_9906_alt/index.html has some good info there about one wire alt set up . have a great day Slim
