Hey

My friend just gave me an engine for free its either a olds 455 or 350 it came from a 1976 cutlass, ive been looking around my town for a 350 that i could start rebuilding that would work in my 1981 Elcamino with a 267 v8 and th350c transmission, Would the olds engine work with my tranny or would it bolt up to my motor mounts? What would be the difference from the olds 350 to a chevy motor?

the short answer is ---no----the olds uses the BOP ( Buick, Olds, Pontiac) bellpattern while the chevy is unique to itself. the th2004r has a dual pattern bellhousing that will fit either---you might want to find one of those and replace the engine and upgrade to an overdrive tranny at the same time............................Dan

providing this motor is original from the 76 cutlass you got it from a 76 350 casting # is 381917 and a 76 455 casting # is 396021. there are turbo 350's with bop patterns if you look, but like dan said upgrade to the overdrive.
