: Hello Eastern Canada
oldelky80 01-15-2006, 02:38 PM This particular forum/region has been inactive for some time now and perhaps we can begin to turn it around. John Harris has asked me to represent this district and I'm more than happy to help out but we all know that Ontario to Newfoundland is a little larger area than one person can handle but I'll do my best. Myself I'm living in Eastern Ontario about 1 hour south of Ottawa along the St Lawrence seaway, right in the middle of nowhere(aka Brockville). The first question I would like to ask the members in this area is what would you like to see from the El Camino club beyond the on-line forum? How many members are there from lets say Windsor to Montreal? Are the members interested in getting together at some point in the summer for a cruise night, car show, BBQ,garage tour or whatever. Lets use this forum as a communications tool so that other regions will begin to realize that we are alive and still kicking up here in Canada.
83choochoo 03-02-2006, 07:52 PM Im from Halifax Nova Scotia i don't think theres any one else from my area on here. it would be a long drive for me to meet you guys.
oldelky80 03-03-2006, 05:32 AM Todd,
This is one of the problems having the country split into only 2 regions for the moment. Maybe you might consider a "road trip" to Ontario for a vacation and try to attend the scheduled car show in Prescott, Ontario in July?
83choochoo 03-03-2006, 08:47 PM thanks, and if i ever find the time to come up that way ill let u know.
elkyfreak 04-21-2006, 05:44 PM Hey 83choochoo, aer you going to the Atlantic nationals in Moncton NB this year. If you are let me know and we can meet up. My computer crashed last year and we haven't got back on line yet, so i only check the site out when I'm at someones house who has internet. Hopefully soon I'll be back up. Pain in the butt.
78chev 10-16-2006, 04:02 PM Hey Everyone.
I am from Winona, Ontario and am interested in gettin' to know some members from the club here. My El Camino unfortunately cracked a piston at the end of the season last year so I am saving to get her rebored and a new set of pistons installed over the winter. Next season I will be looking forward to any shows that my fellow elky owners will be attending.
My son and I have done shows over the last few years, everywhere from Niagara Falls to Exeter, and most points in between.
Have a good one all!
Johnny
meltdown 01-16-2007, 12:44 PM Hello Just found this website and am a huge El Camino enthusiast. I have a '82 SS El Camino. It is in the shop at the moment getting an overhaul but hope to have it on the road for the summer. Would love to get together with everyone this summer.
Regards
Joe
ssclone 02-11-2007, 08:00 AM Hi Don, I JUST purchased a 71 El Camino, and found this site after doing a search on the net. I got the car down east, and won't go and get it until spring, but I will be looking to take it to some shows this summer so I'll keep checking back here for info. By the way I'm just up the road from you in Franktown, just north of Smiths Falls.
I also saw your other posting for parts, so I'll once I get it home and start finding little things it may need, I'll be in touch.

oldelky80 02-11-2007, 07:36 PM Dave,
I sent you a PM today.
ssclone 03-31-2007, 08:36 PM Took possesion of the car this week. Wow, better than I thought it would be. I bought it sight unseen, although a good friend of mine had gone over it and was the one who told me about it. Anyways, the pictures I received did not do this car justice. By far the nicest car I have ever owned. I will have to get some better pics of it to show it off. Right now just busy trying to get it on the road legally, insurance, appraissal, etc.
Can't wait for better weather, and shows.
oldelky80 04-01-2007, 01:00 PM Hi Dave,
One item you'll need to change the registration over is a Ministry of Finance appraisal first. Yeah it's something they started in the last couple of years, they no longer will accept the bill of sale for title transfer on older cars. Some guys have been getting the title changed in the province (outside Ontario) where they bought the car to avoid this. Most dealers will fillout the form for you, probably another $50. You must be licensed with the Ministry of Finance to perform this service so I've stayed clear of getting into it myself.Good luck, if you need someone for the insurance appraisal just let me know, I do most of Lants(Silver Wheel) work in the area.
ssclone 04-01-2007, 04:58 PM Thanks Don, I already have the ministy appraisal, just need a safety. Thought it would go easily but I noticed the signal lights weren't working, and when you move the signal arm the horn sounded. Took the steering wheel off and found the signal arm was loose and making contact with the horn . Problem with signals was just the flasher, but I broke a small plastic piece for the horn, so now I have to take it all apart, and order that piece, before I can get it safetied.
I didn't know you did appraisals for Silver Wheels, and have already called a guy, although he was suppose to call me back and hasn't yet, so I may be in touch.
I,m from southwestern Ontario just west of London, would be interested in a get together. When is the show in Prescott. Might be able to meet up there.
oldelky80 04-02-2007, 07:03 AM I'm not sure of the Prescott show date, normally the second Sunday in July but it hasn't been posted yet. Are you also planning to attend the Can-Am Chevelle/El Camino cruise weekend in Stratford Sept 14-16? This should be a great weekend.
