I am looking for some California smog legal headers for a 350. They have to have the heat riser atatchment and the appropriate air tubeing as well. Have been searching and haven't found much. Price does not matter. Names, brands and companies. Any sudjestions?

I have heard Hedman has them, on special order basis only. Since I don't live in CA., never checked on prices - but I'm guessing they won't be cheapies. . . . 8-)

I have Thorley headers. They are smog legal come with all needed parts and more importantly come with the E.O. number.

So Thorleys are California smog legal? I checked for the Hedman Headers on their site, there are two that I can use on their site, however on their foot notes they note that one does not come with the smog injection (I am not sure if that is the tubeing that fits into the stock manifolds) and the other is not legal for sale or use on pollution controled vehicals in the state of California, yet it says 50 state legal. I hate smog and hate this states Corrupt laws.

My elkie is an 87, I had the local muffler shop put them on and have been thru 3 smog inspections since all with no problems. I have been told from the inspectors that if I had not had the sticker with E.O. number on it the would have failed me on that alone. I agree with you about the smog laws as I could make my engine run cleaner without all that stuff on.

Try looking at the Edelbrock headers. I had a problem with fiting them. My kragens allowed me to return them so you might get lucky. But Edelbrock gives u a SMOG/CARB sticker to place on your radiator cover. Just like their EDEL-1400 carb!

I've had the Edelbrocks on mine for years and while the passenger side fitment was/is very tight I've been satisfied with them. They were about $600 back then, I believe they're cheaper now.
I bolted them on right out of the box, but needed to have a muffler shop weld up the clamp-on sections as I couldn't ever get it to not seep exhaust from the clamps. I also had the shop put on a high-flow Flowmaster converter, create a 3" dual exhaust (not a true dual tho) from the converter back to exit thru Flowmaster mufflers. Sounds tough - even tho it's only a puny 305 - and I've never had any problems getting smogged in California due to exhaust. They've got the CARB number stamped right onto the driver side header. If I ever change tho, I'd be darn tempted to try the Doug Thorley headers. From what I've read about them they sound like might be designed to produce better power, and are also smog legal. If you go Thorley, let us know how it goes and what you think, OK?
