Hi guys, new to the board. I've got an 85 SS with some junk bucket seats & I'm wanting to change them out with maybe a newer style split bench. I'm having a hard time finding one from any g body. That alone sounds nuts, but I can't find a decent seat anywhere. I just want an alternative so me, my wife and daughter can all ride. thanks.

Seats from a Cutlass Ceira, Pontiac 6000, Celebrity are the same width as a G-body. I'm not sure if there was a bend seat 2dr modle or not though for a fold up seat. Elcaminokid on this forum had a bench seat out of a Cutlass Ceira in his '82 Elky. It's something else to check into.

Thanks for the info. I'll check in to it this week. Are the seat brackets tall enough to get over the trans tunnel?

I believe the brackets are tall enough.

Actually, I'm told the 50-50 split bench seat uses the same floor-mounted brackets as the stock bucket seats; so once you obtain the bench, it should simply bolt into place.
HOWEVER, don't forget that you'll want to add the center seat belts that your bucket-installation does not now have, to secure your daughter (or wife, if she rides in the center).
My own daughter tells me the split 50-50 bench with center armrest that's in my '84 is not very comfortable for her back, and she can't lean her head back much without getting neck cramps. So keep that in mind, too. But I really love that center armrest.
