Ok, I know, I know many may think this is not a good idea. But we all know how hard is to find a non Fiberglass front bumber cover for the Elky SS. For me I find Monte SS's much easier. So I am replacing the doors and complete front clip on my 87 ELKY to the Monte SS Clip and doors. But the parts with not go to waste. I will rework my doors and header panel off my Elky and place it on my 80 Malibu.
Has anyone here has done something like this? :D

I thought I read a while back that was not a bolt-on and needed modifications. What sticks in my mind is that the MC was wider than the EC. It would be nice if I was wrong.

The body lines on the quarter panels too? Wouldn't it be cheaper in the long run to buy the SS nose for the Elky when you consider the time and work involved? And yes the SS Monte nose is wider, by about an 1 1/2"

The body line are different and yes the front is wider by 1 1/2 inchs. But place the doors and complete front clip it will fit perfect. Yes the body lines are different also. The monte has a slick wave of a body line on the fender and doors. But I believe it will work and look great. Plus for me it will cheaper. I got a complete donor car for $500 and sold parts of it. And made my $500 bucks back. Also the front bumber shocks has to be replace with monte bumber shocks. 8)

I have not place the doors or front clip on the el camino yet. I am only up to my chassis work. I have my project in stages and body is nearly the last. Sorry.

Jose,
How did this all work out for you? I am working on an 87 with a monte front clip. Seems to all fit pretty well except the where the body line on the doors near the window felt - to the quarter.[/quote]
Hey I just did this to a 78. As you stated above, the felt area needs raised to match. I'm rasing it with body filler. Thinking of a little hammer and dolly work on the quarter behind doors or plan "B" is to put the Monte chrome along the bottem. You have to use an extra door chrome to make the two that go between the rear of door to the front of wheel. Also have to relocate the rear side marker light. This sounds like a lot of work for some, but to a body man, no prob... Will post pix as soon as finished.
PS.. I only paid $250 for Monte SS Front and doors. Sold my front for $200 and an extra $50 for a door to a Malibu guy. Only have $650 in the car LOL
