I am restoring a 1964 El Camino with a stock 327 engine and a 4 speed. I believe this a rare car. How could I find out how many were made with this set up, in 64?

There were 27,965 1964 V8 El Camino's built (6,759 6-cyl), total Chevelle all models 397,750 of which 11% were Elky. So any 1964 Elky is rare and the 6 even more so.

El Camino option totals were combined with the Chevelle (is a Chevelle Model) and thus there is no way to know how many 327/4 sp.

Chevy did not keep option combo totals, just totals for each option as that was all they cared to know.

If it is an automatic 4-Speed, that is rare. I cannot seem to find one. I have a 65 that I am trying to put one in.

Azman, It has a Muncie 4 speed on the floor. I have been looking on the W.W.W. and have not seen a stock 327, 4 speed Muncie in a 64 El Camino. I have seen this combo. in the Corvette's and one in a Chevelle, but not in El Camino's. I hoped someone in "El Camino Central" may know more. P.S. thank you Z71 for more info. on 1964 El Camino's.

I knew a guy that had one. 327, 4speed & bench seat. All the badging said Malibu. It did not have "El Camino" anywhere on the outside. It was tittled as a "Malibu" & didn't require the Ohio "truck" plates. Jon

OK, I know this is not an exact answer, but looking through my 65 owners manual, it does shown an option for a 4 speed on the floor.

8) When I was in grade school the guy down the street had a 64 with the same setup. I f memory serves me he told my Grandpa in order to get the bucket seats and console with the 4 speed he had to get the Camino with the Malibu SS package. The Camino had Malibu script on it. :?
