Been reading about this product supposedly used by Army, Navy, Air Force, NATO, etc., written up by Street Rodder magazine, My Classic Car and distributed by Snap-On among others. Sounds good, but I've not heard of it before encountering in my endless search to do-it better, easier, cheaper. Anyone had an experience good or otherwise with this product? 8)

stuff must be so good everyone wants to keep it a secret or...mayhaps no one believes it can be any good AND be safe in the environment. so, has anyone heard or experienced anything positive or negative? 8)

Haven't heard of it Ike, is there a website to read about it? I've used rust-mort, it works great. I've also used another product (liquid as well), but for the likes of me I can't remember the name......something like Ospho, it is a green color. I works pretty good to, but stays tacky longer then I like.

What does the product do exactly?
If it is for treating rust, I whole hartedly recommend this stuff.

I've used several of their products in the past, and I can't say enough about the quality of it, and it stops rust dead in it's tracks. Check out the body filler as well. Much better than standard bondo.

Evapo Rust is for getting rid of rust so that you can then do something else with the metal like bluing or leaving it bare. The POR product is great to but it is designed to neutralize and encapsulate the metal to prevent rust from coming back. I have used it on a number of firearm parts with tremendous success. I have had actions that were completely frozen with rust and dumped them in the pan and the next day the rust was gone and all parts came off easily withouth any difficulties. It is not an acid so it doesn't disturb the metal itself in anyway. It is not caustic to humans like naval jelly is. The biggest downside I found was that it was a liquid the consistency of water and you required quite a bit of it to cover a large item. I believe they do have a paste type version but I have not used that, if it works as well as the liquid it is probably fantastic.
I used it on the roof of my 78 Camaro with fairly good results. I got mine from Car motor Sports (http://carmotorsports.com/restoration.htm) here in Atlanta

its great for the environment, and not harmful to us. It takes everything off, even paint. Leave the metal in for how long you need and the rust is always gone. Only problem I find is that for a gallon it costs about $45.

I have used it and it works great. You can get it at Autozone in quarts for $8.99 or at Harbor freight in gallons for around $40. It works for a long time. It makes parts look new, it's pretty amazing.
