Hi all,

I've got a bad clutch on my '77 Camino a/c compressor. My first question is this...

Does anyone know if the clutch can be pulled without pulling the compressor?

Secondly, is there any way to know if the compressor is working without first changing the clutch?

Yes, the clutch hub and pulley assembly can be replaced on the vehicle using the proper pullers.

Without opening the system up and removing the manifold hose assembly off the back of the compressor, there isn't much you can do to determine if the compressor is still "good."

Compressors are cheap enough to replace when in doubt.
