When I was replacing my carpet and padding on my 86, I came across a item on the passengers side foot well that sat below the heater core.
It was rectangular and looked like cheese cloth in a plastic rap, and had 2 factory clips holding it to the floor board under the padding.
If I had to make a guess, I would say it's some type of absorbing pad for
A/C condensation leaking, or there about.
1st, do I need this when I put the new carpet in, and 2nd is there a fix for it, so I don't have to reinstall it.

I also own an 86, I looked around and saw nothing of that sort. So I'm not sure if that was installed before or after being pumped from the factory. Mine does NOT have it (or marks where it could have been) though, just for the record.
