Does anyone know what the original color was on the 79 GMC Caballero 305 V8 engine? I am going to spruce up my engine compartment and I know the engine was worked on and is currently blue, not sure this is right.

I don't know if GMC and Chevrolet use the same, but 1977 was the first year for Chevrolet to use blue.

I was afraid someone might say that. That blue sucks, I think I will change it to orange only because that looks better and since it isn't going to be a factory correct car who cares. I'm already swapping the interior in the 79 for one out of an 84 and planning on using the camaro rally wheels and looking at the retro wood steering wheel from Grant so hell what difference does it make.
