My 82 Conquista has an orange rubber "FD" sticker about 2" square on the inside of the passenger rear wheel well. What does this refer to? Is it an option or suspension package? I never seen one mentioned anywhere.
Thanks
Frank
No,, that what is called a "Broadcast code". Its for the line workers to id the correct component to install on the car during assembly. Instead of the workers having to look up part numbers, each componet is assigned a broadcast code.
The reason they are called broadcast codes etc is that when the car is scheduled for build, the computer broadcasts this info thru out the assembly plant to cue production of sub-assemblies and stages them to arrive at the line as the precise time the car is coming down.
Take a look at this, note the box's with the codes in them. Thats what they used on the line to find the parts.
They was also a chassis broadcast copy wich dealth with the frame etc and this dealth with body only before they were married (body meets chassis).

Thanks for the info! That makes sense as it a good sized very visable and durable sitcker.
Now does anyone know what the "FD" stood for? I have my build sheet but it's half rotted away.
