Well I'm a Gov't Contractor at Grissom Air Reserve Base in IN, Warehouse Specialist. We replaced the civil service people and now do the job with 1/2 the people, 1/2 (not quite) the pay, and 1/2 the benni's.

I'm a retired Naval Reservist (Command Senior Chief), and also retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority as a software development manager.

Currently, I'm a computer consultant doing mainframe data conversions. With today's computers I can do about 2/3s of the work out of my home and the other 1/3 on-site.

Life is great!

Body shop owner and car lover. Currently building a 1933 Ford Vicky street rod. (LT1 power). Someone is wanting it badly, so I'll probably sell it when finished and build something else.

Getting there is half the fun.

I work at a liberal arts college here in the North East called The College of the Holy Cross. Kinda tough being one of the few "conservatives" here, but I do enjoy the atmosphere and the "scenery" here is better than the ECC Daily Babes!

I work in the Information Technology department and my main responsibility is network management using network monitoring software. I have it configured to watch my router, servers, applications, etc. And when something goes wrong, it emails me, pages me, and even talks to me.

Way to geeky, but it works for me and pays for my Elky hobby.

I'm currently a student at Western Carolina University, and I also own Stereo Integrity. This semester will definately be my last one up here - this University has screwed me over big-time with classes/requirements. After that, it's off to working part-time somewhere and trying to get my business off the ground. :)

I am currently the head model photographer for the Victoria Secrets lingerie catalogs….Well not really. :P

Oh this is a tuff question for me at the moment. Currently looking for work in a new career.

But in brief and a little about myself… I was a UPS driver in San Francisco for over 14 years. After an injury and my love for art I became a graphic artist. Moved up and became the production manager of the biggest automotive classified ad paper in our area. After a company buy-out I lost my position like a lot of us here in the Bay Area. Currently working with a new home builder and working hard on getting my Real Estate license. It’s all who you know around here these days.

I have also had a mobile detailing service on the side for many years specializing in classic, exotic and collector’s cars. Retired from that now but still help out with a few special collectors now and then.

Biggest car I have ever waxed on waxed off…’36 Packard limo 12 cylinder. Oddest and smallest, this one will KILL YOU, I was hired to detail… Yugo's for Yugo of America ad campaign in the 80’s as these cars were to be ready for Road & Track and Car & Driver! But that’s another story!

My wife says my passion and love for cars is almost obsessive at times.

Anyone want to see my resume?

Help :!:

Assembled heavy metal finishing equipment for a company for over 20 years until they moved away and gave me a buy-out. I finished up my working career as a Ford car/truck salesperson for about 12 years and when my wife received an Ameritech buy-out, we both retired and bought a 36 foot motorhome.

Wonder how a Ford salesperson could possibly own an Elky. My dad and two brothers retired from GM. I cut teeth on my older brothers Chevys. About 10 years ago, two of my brothers and myself all owned elkys. We all lived at least a couple of hundred miles apart and didn't know the others had elkys. How's that for an eerie elky story. Turn 59 tomorrow but since buying my 85 Elky SS a month ago, never felt younger.

That has always been one of my favorite shows since I was a kid. When I went on vacation in CA a few years ago,my mother in law has some sort of hook up at CBS. She was able to get me passes for the second row right behind the contestents. I went in through the "talent entrance" and was escorted through the back stage area where I met the beauties :D.
They sat me down next to some freaky lady who was kinda mad that I didn't sleep in the parking lot overnight with the rest of the hardcore PIR people. All the people in the first few front rows were freaky. They had home made PIR tshirts and posters and have been to the show 200 times, ect.

Anyways,I might be hanging myself here by saying what I do,but I'm a parts manager for a Chevy dealer. I've been with GM for 12 years. Before that I was with Jaguar/Rolls Royce.

I currently work for TI in software development for the educational & productivity solutions business. My official title is "Help Desk Coordinator", but I'm really the entire help desk (note to self: talk to program manager about getting an appropriate job title). I am basically like tech support for 3rd party software developers, but my fingers are in a lot of pies there. I'm the main test person for our development tools and I occasionally put on training sessions for 3rd party developers to teach them how to program on our devices. It's a nice job, I can work from home, get to travel (they've sent me to Europe twice so far), etc., but I've been thinking about getting a second job lately.

Well, by training I am a nuclear engineer. During my abortive grad school career (ran out of $$) I was a reactor operator for a research reactor, did a lot of the design and installation of a new digital instrumentation suite for said reactor, and was a certified nuclear instructor for classes we taught for prospective reactor operators at civilian power plants.

Then, while I was 'in transition' (having half a grad degree can be a real problem - overeducated and undereducated all at the same time) I started at IBM as a 2nd shift supplemental assembly operator. One thing led to another, and with a lot of work and some lucky breaks I made it to Manufacturing Engineering Tech, then Test Engineer, and ultimately to where I am now, WW Manufacturing Project Manager for certain ThinkPad products.

And of course there's my other career, the 20-year-and-counting restoration / re-restoration / re-re-restoration... :D of my El Camino!

I spent the formative years learning this trade, then bolted to the restaurant business in the 80's when jobs in construction were lean here...spent a few years bartending, managing and almost owning, then got smart and got back into a saner line of work. In the mid 90's I filed my DBA and bought some new tools....life is great now!

We just recently started doing this and haven't done a lot of websites yet, however we've had a church, a Dentist, a gym, and few other websites so far. I enjoy doing that on weekends.

This weekend, I'm bringing my Elky home. For those of you who haven't heard, I was given a 1980 El Camino SS from my in-laws. It's been sitting under there carport since 1995 without being driven OR started. So, I'm finally getting to start working on it. I'm pumped...can't wait to start!!!

It's great to read that people from all walks of life share the passion/insanity . . . . .

I own a small scenic and exhibit design firm in central NJ.

I grew up working in my Dad's Auto Body Shop, so luckily the 'car thing' is deep rooted in me. He is retired now and the shop is gone, but I remember being 6 years old and hearing his drag race car start up (36 Chevy coupe with a Chrysler 396 Hemi) - I think that's when I got the bug. From about 10 years old to the early 90's, I had the pleasure of learning and working dad's trade and eventually using it to put myself through college for Industrial Design.

I currently work with a lot of corporate weenies in nice their nice offices, but one of the greatest feelings in the world is still to roll up the sleeves and dive under the hood of anything and get to work. Dirty, greasy, sweaty and a bloody knuckle or two - it's the simple pleasures in life that make it worth living . . . . . .

Retired from the first career after 20 years with the Coast Guard and thought I had it made..... now I'm the maintenance man for the Best Western Inn in Marble Falls, TX. Trying to get back to getting my 66 El Camino back to where it looks good.

I decided to bring this one back so us old timers don't have to post our jobs again. Is where any way to link this one to the other?

After 24 years in Army aviation I retired and went to work for civilian contractor doing the same thing as before. Currently Quality Control/ISO9001-2000 manager over seeing Apache, Blackhawk tech inspectors and test pilots.
Almost ready to retire again after 18 years on this job.

Tommy's bringing back the good ones! I'm wondering if there is a way new members get directed straight to them. sort of a fun sign in sheet about what they do, and their online name and do they prefer Coke or Pepsi?
Or would that be to much like forcing people to participate?

oh well just a thought..

I am a Remote Control Operator for LS scale trains (lifesize scale) Actually this is new technology using GPS. I can move up to a 6,000 ft intermodal freightrain with a Remote Control Transmitter (RCT) which I wear strapped to my chest while standing on the ground. Talk about a toy train set. I prefer Pepsi in a can...but will settle for any softdrink you offer me as long as there's something in it besides ice (stirred not shaken). My measurements are...oops wrong website, nevermind.

I retired from the Army after 25 1/2 years, couldn't stand another short tour! Chilled out for about 6 months, drove mama crazy, so went back to work for the Army as a GS employee. Instructor in the only Army Aviation Safety Officer Course here at Ft. Rucker, and ocassionally may get sent out on an Army Accident Investigation.

I'm currently restoring a 74 Elky for my Grandson, not sure when it'll be done, but have plenty of time, the Grandson won't be able to drive for about, hmmmm, 12-14 years :-D
