My name is Jim Faucett and I've only been a member since May 2006. I bought my 67 El Camino on the 10th of June and have shown it twice, once at RIR on 6/10 and we got a 2nd in stock truck class and again at the New Kent County Fair where I got a best in class and Best in Show. To say the least, I take a lot of pride in my Elky.

At any rate, I came across a thread yesterday regarding the 50th anniversary of the El Camino and I think it would be great to have a show somewhere on a National level. As I read through the thread, it became apparent that we need to get more region activities going before we move to a national level. There were some good ideas about piggy backing with something like Carlisle's GM show.

It doesn't appear that we get very much participation in region 4 however, you have listed a number of shows throughout Maryland for '06. My apologies for not tapping into the region forum sooner. If I had, I would have been more active. I did note a benefit show in Frederick on 9/17. Is that still on and if so, do you have anybody signed up?

Also, I've come across a couple of nice Elky's in Central VA in the past few months. One is a '65 that has taken a number of awards and the other is owned by a guy that lives in College Park that has 2 first gens. The one I saw was a burgundy '59 at the Nat'l Street rod show last weekend. He is a member at NECOA, but I didn't write his name down. He was supposed to email me and I was going to help him get his pics uploaded to the site.

Hey Jim, I know Ive seen your 67 before. I see you bought it on june 10th, Im thinking I saw it at the Crusin ocean city show back in may of this year, could this be possible? What caught my eye was the perfect bed, and the 'trim' ring around the wheel well in the bed, is that original? And the 6 cylinder engine, what a perfect original car! I hate to think what what your car is worth! Anyway, its really an eye catcher, hope to see it next year at crusin oc , it truly is the" greatest show on earth" !

Thanks for the kind words Steve. I bought the car from a friend at my church. I'd been after him for almost a year to sell it to me. My friend's name is Gene Collins and he was the 2nd owner since 1975, His brother, James was the body shop manager at Emmrick Chevorlet and supervised the restoration in 1985. The car is number matching. The paint however is from an '82 Malibu. Other than that, everything is original or original stock replacement.

I know you didn't see it at OC this year, I was still working on Gene to sell it to me. However, I'll try to make it to '07.

Are you going to try to make Frederick on 9/17?

Jim, I must have been dreaming again , anyway there was a 67 very similar to yours and also in excellent shape . I will go thru my photos, although I dont know how to post them. I doubt I will make frederick,my 70 is nowhere near ready to show, although it runs well. I am planning to go to fall carlyle this year, I hope.
