For an '87 El Camino, I just purchased bucket seats from a '96 Cutlass, to replace bench seat.

Would like to add console, I hear many refer to the late model S-10, S-15 consoles as working great. I'm struggling locating one. Will most any narrow console work?

Later in the future I'm wanting to replace the column shift with an aftermarket floor shift (automatic, Hurst-B&M, etc...). What do I need to consider when looking for a console?

Will I need to install the console when I install the seats? Or can it be installed later?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm struggling at this point.

i have a console out of an 06 chevy impala. it is supposedly black, but not as black as some of the EC vinyl interiors.

i was going to put it in my 72 along with swivel buckets. i can leave the console out and swivel the buckets or put the console in and not swivel the buckets. chose to not use the console.

pretty much a brand new console, with hole for floor shift. if you, or anyone else, becomes interested in it, "pm" me and i will take a picture. will sell it for $40 buckets plus shipping.

A nice looking and easy conversion is any G-body console 78-87. They are sometimes hard to find. All four GM divisions will slip fit all though the look slightly different. If you find one make sure you get the three mounting brackets that are spot welded to the floor pan. The drill off easy. Also get the cable bracket that attaches to the trans. You floor pan will have dimples as to where to mount the brackets and cut hole for shift cable.

I have 97 Firebird buckets, 2003 Monte Carlo console, and B&M Mega shifter in mine. Pretty easy set up.
