After spending the entire day bringing an airbox to showcar quality; a neighborhood boy accidently knocked it off its stand and broke a lot of the bottom out. I think he feels worse than I do. I do have a question regarding the 4 port vent on the lower front of the box covered by a rubber flap. What in the world is this for? All I can figure out is that it allows fan air pressure into the engine compartment. What gives?

The vent is at the bottom left under the repair work.

It's to allow rain water to drain out of the heater box. A common problem is that it'll clog up and allow water to accumulate in the box, eventually leaking onto the passengers floor.
