Just wanted to make my prescence known. Hi everyone, brand new guy who's happy to be here. stumbled in here looking for any info about my recent purchase-"81 GMC Caballero Diablo. Far as I can tell, I'm the 3rd owner of this beauty with the stock 305-4bbl 3-spd. I'll probably be here daily loooking for info because I've always wanted at least one of these genius deigns.

right now I've got a hold of a 327 that I'm fixing up to drop in and my question is... what's the best and quickest way to clean this baby(the engine). any other generous suggestions would be great.

see y'all around the sight!

http://elcaminocentral.com/users/87ss/hallo.gif First of all, welcome to the group!

As far as cleaning nasty parts, I don't know what everyone else uses, but oven cleaner works really well for me. On parts less crusty, sometimes I use brake cleaner....

Welcome to the board!

If you have a pressure washer, that and Gunk, or any other brand engine cleaner will do wonders. For nastier parts I use brake cleaner.

Hi,

I am another new member that stumbled into El Camino Central. I have a 1969 El Camino SS 396. I will soon have pictures for you to see. I was raised in a body shop and we used Oven Cleaner to clean the engine and engine compartment.

:-D Super big welcome Andrew and J.D. from one newbie to another. We've all found a great Elky site for sure. Gorgeous art work JD.
Terrific people are members, administrators, mechanics, etc. on ECC.

Best of luck and congrat's for loving those "weird" El Camino type vehicles and finding this site. (somebody called them weird?) They are addictive for sure.

Thanks Stan for the welcome and I am glad you enjoyed my paintings! I look forward to talking about our rides. I have taken pictures of my 69 but they are not back from the developers yet. Your El Camino looks great.

Good One! I lived in Illinois during the 1969 to 1975 time period. I lived in the front of a Body Shop with 3 brothers and we worked on cars since we were old enough to hold sandpaper. Thanks for the welcome and I would like to see your 84 if you have pictures of it.

No pics...it's going thru a metamorphis. It will be a mutant on steroids when completed. Still gathering parts and building. 454 with Borg Warner Super T-10 and Ford 9" rearend. I am still driving it almost daily as I gather the parts for it. Goal is to keep it streetable...and still kick everyones ass, sorta a cross between an 84 with 70 SS LS-6 performance. Geez, I need to win the Lotto though...my wife wants to kill me!

I understand where you are coming from. My wife is getting to feel like there is competition.

I have a lot of work to do on the interior. and some work on the exterior.

Thanks! Life in the Pines is my first print. It has done well. I am working on a pen and ink of my 69 Camino. I will show it on the website when it is completed.

Welcome new member! I am fairly new also. Do you have a 69 El Camino? Maybe you can post a picture so I can check it out! My 69 needs a little work in the interior and also I need a 69 396 to finish it out. Keep in touch and I would like to compare 69s.
