: Headers for 4th Gen?

Okay I am a little confused and I think this is the best place to ask this question.

What headers (cheap headers) will fit a 77 El Camino? I am wondering if any header that will fit a 73-77 Chevelle or Malibu will also fit my El Camino?

I would assume so, but would like some experienced input on this. Also, Do they hang down low? Does anyone on here have regular length (not shorty style) headers on their 4th gen with a Small Block Chevy that can post a picture or advise me how far they hang down under the car?

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Chris, I have a 77 also. Although mine has a big block 454, I have a set of long Headers on it and they fit just fine. They do not hang below
the Frame on the Camino. You might check the photos in my Gallery,
4th gen. page 8 bottom center. (CoyoteOn2). Sorry I can't tell you the make of them though, another point, my system is 3" all the way back,
and I've never had a prob.
Hope this helps and good luck in your endeavors
Larry

8) Hedman #68290 Chevelle, Malibu and ElCamino 64-77 painted long tube headers. Thats what I have in my 77. 8 years old and still not rusted out. If the car has a stock ride height they are ok on ground clearance, but as with any long tube headers you have to watch those speed bumps!

Papa John, you have a 350 in your camino?

So if I plan on lowering the car I may have some clearence issues with full length headers?

I have some exhaust manifolds from a 77 Chevy Truck would those work on the camino instead? I haven't put the motor in yet to check, and the car had a 454 before I got it. They were running headers on the 454.

I would like to lower the car.

Will lowering springs for a 73-77 Chevelle/Malibu fit this car? Does anyone make a drop spindle for it?

Sorry to get off topic, got lots of questions before I start buying parts.

Thanks for the help guys.

8) Yes I have a 350. If you have a double hump cross member so the exhaust will tuck up tight a 2" up front might be ok. Try www.fatmanfab.com on the spindles, maybe even the springs but shop around and try to get feedback on these parts from someone who has used them. I could not say on the truck manifolds but I suspect they will dump out different. With an auto trans. you could also use shorty headers. On the springs the fronts should be the same as the Chevelle but I think the rears are different.
