Well I'm 2 months into my 60 el camino and I believe the body is ready to come off :D .

I finally got the nerve to pull the rear windshield and it came out without a crack, I also took the bed access panel out and shoveled out the smuggler's compartment and that thing was full. Me and my dad have been building a body jig.

Is there anything I might be missing before taking the body off?

And know what everyone wants, pics.

Wow! 8) I wish I had the time (and patients) to do that. I would love to own a first gen.

Mullet, glad you were able to pick up a 60. You are making great progress! At the rate you are going you will be done with it real soon! Build a good jig, Looks like you are ready to pull the body! What are your plans? Stock resto? Resto mod?

Looks like it's good to go to me. I've got the same thing planned for my '68 later on this summer. I'm swapping the existing front-horn rusted frame out completely for a rust-free unit that will be totally rebuilt with all new bushings, brake and fuel lines.steering components, rear end, and (hopefully) I'll have disc brakes installed on it. I've got the stripped shell loose and still sitting on the donor frame....need to trailer it by the metals recycling place and let them pluck it off the frame with thier magnet, and then I can get busy prepping the new frame. I got a week's vacation to use later on in the summer...once the frame's ready I'll start on a Fri. and spend a full week doing the swap. I'm sure I won't get it all done in that amount of time, but I hope to at least have the new frame installed under my car. Boo-Yeah!

I am acually looking for a good tailgate, mine is so rusted and beat up that there is no saving it.

And the passenger side tail light area, I honestly have no idea what its called. But here is a pic of it http://i2.tinypic.com/zu16s5.jpg

Looks like the old guy backed into something pretty hard, I would hate to see what he hit
