I just bought an 87 el camino, 305, is in fair shape. I have been reading the topics for a couple weeks now, some very good info. At the time right now one question i have is can you find gauges to replace the lights for temp, volts, oil pressure? I never did like the light deal. It would be nice if i could mount them in the same original place. Thanks

You can replace your idiot lights with the cluster gauges out of a donor car. You will need the entire setup complete with the circuit board for it to work. Or you can design your own setup using gauges such as Autometers. There is also a digital dash setup available that is sold through Summit Racing (expensive), I don't know who makes it. Many choices...Check out the members gallery and maybe you'll get some ideas on what you like.

The Digital cluster is available through Dakota Digital:The Information (http://www.dakotadigital.com/Detail.cfm?Category=147&PartNumber=VFD3-81C-MC)

Here is a picture of it:

Welcome to ECC/NMCOA Eddie!

Keep your eyes open for a 86-88 Monte Carlo parts car. They make the best donors for tachometers and gauges for your 87. As Mike said, you'll need to replace the gauge housing because the non-gauge housing has a different circut board on it. The 87-88 MCSS also had the 115mph speedo. Gauges from a 78-85 Monte or Malibu will work but they will not match your current speedo color.
