So who is going to GM Carlisle June 23-25? http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/gm/index.asp

I'm registered and will be there Fri through Sun. I've never been to GM Carlisle before, I have gone to Ford Carlisle the past six years and again this year.

If anyone is planning on going post here.

From what I've been reading , you may have attended the last GM meet that will be held in Carlisle. I'm not saying the GM meet is history only that all the Carlisle events may soon be moving to another location down around York, PA. The new convention center is already listed for sale at 3.5 M and understand they have a buyer for the fairgrounds. It's too bad for the town if they end up moving as the reported number is 97 M worth of business is generated from the season into the local economy.

Fairgrounds for sale?

By John Hilton, Sentinel Reporter, June 13, 2006

A tentative deal is in place to sell Carlisle Fairgrounds and move Carlisle Productions to an undisclosed location near the border of Cumberland and York counties.

“We have a buyer for the 82-acre fairgrounds,” Detrick says. “I cannot say who they are. But we are looking very seriously at leaving Carlisle.”

Meanwhile, Carlisle Productions has taken the first step towards leaving — listing its Carlisle Expo Center with Landmark Realty for $3.5 million. The company purchased the former Piezo Crystal plant property at North West and K streets in 2002. Included are a six-acre site, 30,000-square-foot building and more than 300 parking spaces.

Detrick acknowledged that Carlisle Productions would greatly benefit by moving. The company would gain much more control of parking and concessions and likely find a site with better access routes.

“We would own 100 percent of the parking,” he says. “There’s a million dollars’ worth of business done outside these gates.”

Don't believe any of it, it was just a ploy to get the town to force the National Guard to allow the fairgrounds continued use of some land for parking and camping. This info right from many of the staff this past weekend.

Carlisle Productions pumps $100 million into the community each year, they aren't going anywhere.

I'll hold off booking my rooms for next years events until the dust settles on the whole issue.
