Does any one have a formula or know the ingredients of an auto detailer spray? I use a lot of it and it's expensive, I suspect that I could cook up a gallon of it for a lot less than the retail price for 18oz, if I had a recipe.

Mr Maguire on Car Crazy on Speed TV seems like a nice guy. He might give his formula to you.

I'm afraid I have no real solution.

Any formulas you find are lilely to be useless or damaging to your car. These quick detail sprays are a combination of a lot of chemicals, it's best not to re-invent the wheel.

I use it a lot also and I don't go through more than two bottles a year! How much could you possibly be using?

Robin,
Too bad your so far away. When I'm at Carlisle I pick up a gallon of Meguiars "Final Inspection" for $18, think it's been the same price for the last 10 years.

I've tried using that stuff, and its like pushing a rope.

If you don't do the whole car, it shows. If I'm going to go through all that work, its just easier to wash it!

Sorry but that doesn't make much sense. First of all quick detail sprays are NOT a substitute for washing. They are a shine enhancer, they are meant to augment or freshen up a waxed vehicle. Just a lighht spray and a wipe and you're done.
