Complete, running, Big Block Chevy 325 Horse 396 V8 Engine.

Originally from an early 1966 model Chevelle, this engine has 4-bolt mains, a forged crankshaft, #702 Oval Port Closed Chambered high compression heads, Edelbrock intake, an Edelbrock 600 CFM 4-barrel carb, a new Edelbrock double roller timing chain, new (rebuilt) water pump, chrome valve covers, chrome timing chain, chrome dipstick and chrome oil pan. Also comes with the 396 flex plate and harmonic balancer.

Engine has been bored .030 over, but extra thick cyl walls in this #962 casting can be bored to 0.100 or more, so there's plenty of meat left in this Hi Perf Gen IV block. Engine runs great, but could stand a rebuild.

Am replacing it with fresh 454 over the next several weekends, so it's got to go soon. This particular casting is both rare and valuable. A bare block like mine recently sold on Ebay for $2550.

Selling the complete engine for $3K, and will toss in an Edelbrock carb jetting kit and a spare aluminum BBC cam gear drive.

Am willing to ship outside of the Rhode Island area. Shipping cost is extra.

PM or Email me if you're interested, or if you know of anyone who is.

Thanks, Mike

Hmmmm

82 peeks and no nibbles and no referrals. Is there no market? Or is my asking price way out of the box?

Thoughts/Impressions?

I think you are asking too much. Nothing on E-bay is a deal it seems like. My 2 cents.

Ricardo,

Regarding your 1st sentence, I don't intend to argue, but just to provide a data point....

Here's a freshly rebuilt 66 Chevelle 396 long block with the same casting numbers and dates as my engine. It just sold on Ebay for $3,500 and isn't even a complete running engine. Granted it's been freshly rebuilt (would cost about $700 to do so), but $3,500-$700 is still clearly in the ballpark of both my asking price and typical of what these engines are going for.

Click on the link and then scroll down about a half page for the details.
Ebay 396 Motor (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4653801549&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AWNA%3AUS%3A112&id=)

If the point of your 2nd sentence is "buyer beware", I agree completely.

However if you're saying that these engine's aren't worth what they're selling for ($3,500 is likely more than an entire 66 Chevelle sold for new), that depends entirely upon what a buyer is willing to pay, and not on anything else.
