Does it start easily, like right away? Did you degree the cam? Any possibility the timing chain wasnt a tooth off? Did you pump up the lifters and re-adjust lash warm while running?

there are so many possibilities -----from the cam being a tooth off or simply too big to a distributor with a stuck advance etc. etc........tell us more---what kind of cam and is the engine otherwise stock?????..........Dan

The block is stock 305 with flat top pistons from a 85 TPI Camaro the cam is a Crane Powermax 260 as for the distribitor everything work on it I even change it to another. I did not degree the cam it is set stright up. It starts pertty easy runs pertty smooth, place in drive it runs a little lopey at take off it is very slugish its more notizables when pulling a trailer

It looks like the cam may be a little too big for a little 305----I bet if you call crane they will tellyou the same thing-----A higher stall converter will help but the real solution it a smaller cam or more compression......Dan
