Joined your group last week and finally got up the nerve to post something. I have owned a 1976 El Camino for about 10 years and enjoy it very much. I go to the "Woodward Dream Cruise" every year as I was brought up in the Detroit area and like to visit old friends and relatives every August. Well two years ago I was visiting an old friend from high school that I hadn't seen for a long time. We got to talking and reminising about old times in school, etc. He tells me that he has a 1964 El Camino that he wants to get rid of. All he wanted was the original 283 engine and trans (pg) and he said I could have it, just get it off of his property because to city was harassing him about having too many vehicles. Well, this past August I drove my truck up there along with a tow dolly and brought the 64 home to Brooksville Florida. The Elky is in pretty good condition considering it sitting in the weather the past 10-15 years. It was last driven in 1969. I now have a project on my hands to fix up, get running, painted, etc. I'll keep you all posted on my progress...I'm very slow. haha :-)
At any rate, this is a very, very good site and I'm glad I found it and joined!!
Oh yeah, the elky is in need of a left hand quarter panel. Would appreciate any help in finding a good source for one.
Thanks, Ken
