Hey I just got a 1984 El Camino not too long ago. It looks good as is but I really want to add some nice sized tires to the rear to make it look mean. I was wondering if you guys can help me out here since I'm new to the El Camino scene. I saw these 295/50/15's and I really liked them, they were wide and what I want, Would these go on the rear without added a lift kit. The guys at NTB said I would have to add a lift kit for them and taht I should go with 265/60's or 275/50's, but I would have to go with a 17" wheel. So overall I just want to know what is the widest, yet safest I can put on the Rear and Front without rubbing. Thank you.

I'm not a wheel expert, but on my '69, I'm running BFG 235x60x15s in the front on Crager (15x7) SSs, and BFG 255x60x15s in the back, also on Crager SSs (15x8)... with no problems. And it looks as tight (to the wheel wells) as I can go without rubbing. However (caveat) -- the same rear tires stuck out of the wheel wells and rubbed when used with my deeper dished (read backspaced) Cragers (also 15x8). There is a real informative article in this site on backspacing and offsets -- check it out! And then let me know if you want to buy my Cragers ;)
