I was wondering what i can reuse from my current engine. my car has a 229 ci V6 with an automatic transmission. I was woundering if i go up to a 305 or 350 what can i use again.

hmm...i am at work right now, and if you wouldve given the year i could look it up and see. i guess i can just hunt for one that has a 229 and 305/350 options, but that could take a while, and i can only go back to 76 in the computer, and i have a strong dislike for the books. what transmission is it?? and i dont think your engine brackets will even be right. in fact im sure they wont. i dont know what you can reuse without more information. but im at work monday thru friday, so if you give me a year and the model of transmission, i can look it up and compare part numbers. o and its not a 78. i trie4d that first. ill keep looking now, but it would be faster if i knew the year.

Nothing. Don't use anything at all it will not be right. The heads, intake and exhaust are all to restrictive even on a 305. I wouldn't put in a 305 I'd go for the gusto and better displacement go with the 350.

If you must ues somethng, use the fan, battery, fan shroud. Your mounts will more than likely be off a little so you will have to put on new motor mounts. Unless you already have an overdrive then buy one. Stick in a 700R4, not a tough swap, G-Force John has a dual exhaust crossmember for that 700R4. Change the rear end too to a 3.73:1 with a Power Trax locker in the rear.

I would love to be able to do that but I am straped for cash, and my engine is about to go. so i was more wandering if I could reuse my current transmission or if I had to go to a new one because it is a V6 now and I want to go to a V8. It is a THM 200. It was rebuilt befure i got the car
