I am not sure if you have checked your local auto parts store yet or not but I would suggest that. I haven't had any trouble finding mechanical parts for GM vehicles at the local parts stores (I guess this is because of the number of cars they made that all used the same parts). Here is a link to a google map, these things are great.

Have you check your local Chevy dealer? You might be surprised many parts like this are still available and can be bought cheaper from a dealer then a specialty store. Which many time buys from GM and then mark it up to sell to you.

I upgraded to Guages from idioot lights.
Senders were available and in stock at Autozone.

Ok, I stumped :? Before i replaced the sending unit , i tried the ground out pink wire to make sure it was the sending unit it's self. So I went and bought the unit and installed it. Here's the thing- before gauge would read full, to the point, the needle was about 180 degrees from empty. Now needle sits on empty with 10 gallons of fuel in the tank. :?
Can anyone explain to me what's going on here???
thanks phantm6

One possibility is that you have the wrong sending unit. Although it may look the same, the resistor could be the wrong value. If I am not mistaken there were different value resistances for different applications. The amount of resistance determines guage position.
