: Let's Hear Your Ghost Stories.
ColdBastrd 10-13-2003, 01:15 PM With Halloween just a few weeks away,it's time we got into the mood. One thing that scares me a bit is ghosts. I've never had any experiances with ghosts but I love reading stories about the stuff.
So who's got some good first hand ghost stories?
While I'm at it I'll thrown in a pretty good ghost website:
The Shadowlands Ghost Website (http://theshadowlands.net/ghost)
acauth1 10-13-2003, 02:15 PM Well, having grown up in the French Quarter of New Orleans, I have had a few encounters with "ghosts," I guess...if that's what they were.
Mostly sounds and things being moved around the house kind of stuff, can't say I ever saw a ghost. I remember laying in bed and hearing doors open and close, footsteps up and down the stairs and across the floor when nobody else was at home. Locked doors unlocked and left open etc. Oh, and the ghost or ghosts who used to leave the toilet seat up.... I used to get blamed for that, and my mom and sisters used to beat me black and blue for that.

gr8ridejester 10-15-2003, 11:07 AM True story...
I was working with an architect and had to go take some pics of a 100+ year old church in Donaldsonville, LA. Another designer and I went in and surveyed the place taking pics as we went along. When we got to the back part of the church, their fellowship hall, there was this terrible smell. It smelled like death! After walking around a bit, I noticed on one side of the kitchen sink there was about 25 dead cockroaches floating in the stopped-up sink. Afterwards, the designer and I went into the hallway where some storage rooms and a bathroom were. Immediately, the we felt the temperature drop and a chill when down both of our spines. We quickly took the pictures and left. Ok, here's the freaky part...when we developed the pictures, there was an image of a child size silhoette on only two of the pictures. One on one of the pics taken in the hall where we felt the chills and the other in the same hall at the other end. No other picture came out with white, shadowy figures. I have the pictures from that experience. I can't find the pictures with the image in them, but I'll post the one of the roaches...
ColdBastrd 10-15-2003, 11:41 AM I have the pictures from that experience.
Seeing that stuff sends chills up my spine. That and hearing EVP(ghost voices on tape). The voices give me the heebie jeebies more than anything. My wife and I have explored alot of abandoned buildings but never had any werid stuff happen. Then again we'd go during the day and we didn't tape,we just shot pictures. One place we checked out, there were dead birds at every window and doorway which was pretty creepy.
Here's some really creepy pics. off that Shadowlands sight.

70ELCO 10-15-2003, 12:03 PM Can't take credit for this one but it is from very close friends.
They were renting a home with the bedrooms up stairs. Their two very young children slept at the other end of a long hallway. When ever one the children had a bad dream they would come running down the hallway and into the bed of the parents. One night Rich heard one of his children coming down the hallway at about 2 in the morning. Just as the steps got louder and closer he was expecting the child to enter the bedroom. Nothing...dead silence. He got up and to find both his kids sound asleep in their bed rooms.
He told his wife about it in the morning and she told him this has happened to her more than once but was afraid to talk about it. They both shared other strange things in the home with each other they could not explain. The mystery walking noises continued until they learned the original home owner's grandmother passed away in the house up stairs in one of the children’s bedrooms. They still say it was grandma walking the halls at night!
They moved out quickly.
Story 2
When I was very young I remember my mother telling us at breakfast about a dream she had that night. She dreamed that the old man Mr. Dunn that lived across the street from my Grandmother had passed away and there was a fire truck and ambulance in front of the house and a lot of people out in front of the house. She could not believe how real it seamed...Right Mom please pass me some more syrup!
That night as we went to visit my Grandmother, we turned the corner and there in front of Mr. Dunn’s home was a fire truck and an ambulance with neighbors around. Mr. Dunn had passed away! 8O This one may not be a ghost story but it still makes my hair on my arms stand up every time I think about it!
Well thats all I have, hope you all can sleep tonight! :P
shane22 10-27-2003, 09:08 PM This happened to us about 25 yrs ago.My wife and I had just got married and with out warning the house we rented was sold.We had 15 days to move out,so I turned to family for help.A distant cousin had inherited a very old house and had tried to rent it,but everyone moved out after a few weeks. It was a big house,3 stories with a wrap around porch.Big yard with a large garage and barn. The rent was super low with no security deposit. We took it sight unseen and moved right in.We started hearing piano playing from upstairs the second night and then every two nights or so apart the shower in our bedroom bath would start and run for about 10 minutes and then shut off.The shower matt would get wet and 1 towel. When we had a party,if we turned up the music too loud,it would stop until we turned it down.We had many friends witness this and other strange things.
I investigated and found that my great, great great uncle built the house and used to teach piano on the second floor.Once I discovered his name and confronted him,he became easier to deal with and became friendler. We had two dogs then and they wouldn't go upstairs, but sit at the bottom of the steps and look up.

LOUISIANA GHOST STORY
(This supposedly happened about a month ago just outside a little town in the bayou country of Louisiana, and while it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's real.)
This guy was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a real dark night in the middle of a thunder storm. Time passed slowly and no cars went by.
It was raining so hard he could hardly see his hand in front of his face.
Suddenly he saw a car moving slowly approaching and appearing ghostlike in the rain. It slowly crept toward him and stopped. Wanting a ride real bad the guy jumped in the car and closed the door -- only then did he realize that there was nobody behind the wheel.
The car slowly started moving and the guy was terrified, too scared to think of jumping out and running. The guy saw that the car was slowly approaching a sharp curve, still too scared to jump out, he started to pray and begging for his life; he was sure the ghost car would go off the road and in the bayou and he would surely drown, when just before the curve, a hand appeared thru the driver's window and turned the steering wheel, guiding the car safely around the bend.
Paralyzed with fear, the guy watched the hand reappear every time they eached a curve. Finally the guy scared to near death had all he could take and jumped out of the car and ran to town.
Wet and in shock, he went into a bar and voice quavering, ordered two shots of whiskey, then told everybody about his supernatural experience. A silence enveloped and everybody got goose bumps when they realized the guy was telling the truth and not just some drunk.
About half an hour later two guys walked into the bar and one says to the other, "Look Boudreaux, ders dat idiot that rode in our car when we was pushin it in the rain."
gr8ridejester 11-03-2003, 07:50 AM Hate to burst your bubble Poltergeist, any story with the name Boudreaux in it is just that...a story. I live in Louisiana and have yet to hear that particular story. Thanks for the laugh, though! :P
