My "new" '80 El Camino is bone stock, with original AM radio, AC and tilt wheel. Other than the Conquista package, it's pretty much option-free. About the only "mod" the previous owner (my wife's uncle) did was put a "cherry bomb" muffler on it...which is pretty funny, considering it's the 229 V6, and only has a single tailpipe! Boy does it sound wicked!!!

I just got the truck home Labor Day Weekend 2006, after having been stored in a barn and driven occasionally for short distances - like from the haybarn to the field to feed the cows. It'll take years for me to wash off all the river-bottom mud from the bottom of this thing! Fortunately they kept it covered, so while there's some rust under the rear window, it doesn't seem to have spread further.

I'm just trying to get it stablilzed at this point (leaking multiple fluids, which is no big surprise), then I figure what direction I'll take it from there. Here's a photo FWIW (just got new center caps in the mail today though, so I may have to update this photo soon!). The truck photographs well; it looks much more challenging in person.

I'm in Little Rock, BTW...the truck was originally registered in Tennessee (Memphis), and driven back and forth from there to central Arkansas for about 7 months (and 16k miles), then sold to my wife's aunt and uncle. It's now got just over 106k miles on it.

Hey Larry, appreciate the kind words. I spent the past two days getting my 'Camino ready for paint. Got the door jambs, tail gate, and under hood all cut in and painted, finished totally wet sanding it again today, and after a good going over tomorrow, I think she'll be ready to do a color change on her next week. Currently it's all primer gray, but was originally brown over gold over brown, three tone. I didn't like that color, so I'm changing it to all 2001 Chrysler champagne (light gold). Check it all out here:http://s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh225/paco71854/
Hope you enjoy..PACO
