Hey,
not to long ago i was cruzing with a friend(he was following me) and i decided i'd show him how well i can lay some rubber. so i gunned it and when i pull over to find out what exactly he wants to do he says "Dude you just let out a large plume of black smoke" i said BS and we traded vehicles and what do ya know my Elky('87 with 305 4-br) does make a smokescreen :( , (does wonders when running from cops), j/k. but im thinking its my carb and that im getting a rich fuel mixture and he says its oil. i tell him burned oil out of the exhaust is blue he says its black. what you guys think? what should be done to correct the problem? thanks for any help :D

Usually Blue smoke means that you need rings----

Black smoke usually means rich carb, blue smoke usually means oil blow by (rings), white smoke usually means coolant (head gasket).

ive always been told that black smoke means its to rich.
