: Just a thought
ElkyPete 10-15-2003, 09:22 AM You know I was just thinking that there are many people here at ECC that really know some good stuff.
Wouldn't it be cool to have a "Community Built" and Site sponsored El Camino? Say something Pro Stock.
Suggestions by the membership on engine drive train and looks and equipment etc.... then a member panel would decide the best combinations and that would be the direction. It could be taken to regional meets, Chevy Shows, and actually race.
Just a thought! 8)
ColdBastrd 10-15-2003, 09:50 AM Where would the funding come from?
Another problem would be, even if say everyone pitched in $$,then who gets to drive it and how often? Where is it kept? Who pays the insurance? Ect,ect, ect.
Just think of the problems that would arise if you split a car 1,500 ways. It would get pretty ugly, pretty fast.
I'll provide the garage space :P
camino81 10-15-2003, 10:02 AM I'll drive! :P

I'll drive!
See that's what I'm talking about. Say if you donated $100 to the project but I donated $300,why shouldn't I be able to keep it in my garage? I want it painted blue, you want it painted red. You want to build an '85,I want to build a '68. What about when Elkyboyracer takes it down the track and accidently puts it into a wall? It would cause nothing but bad blood between everyone.
harddisk6 10-15-2003, 01:32 PM It sounds like a cool idea, But, if I was to tell my wife that I was investing in a toy that she couldn't see, Im not sure that would be a good thing. I have 2 now and she won't drive any of them.( Not a bad thing) I think I would have to budget for an attorney too
ElkySS 10-15-2003, 01:54 PM Sure, it's full of challenging "control" questions. It's likely unmanagable, but it sure would make for enlightening board discussions.
When I hit the Lotto, a single source funding won't be a problem, Pete. We'll even ask CB to be the driver.
theelcaminofactory 10-15-2003, 02:13 PM Can I have it on Saturday nights? 8)
ElkyPete 10-15-2003, 04:04 PM I never said that there wouldn't be logistical issues to work out. Anyway we can still build a virtual Site Elky. Not as much fun to drive but could still be fun.
Some here have never taken own building to that extreme. It would have to be a real enough machine where it could be built reasonably, meet the standards of what ever class it was decided to be placed in. I am sure out of 1500+ at least one probably two could actually make it look real, like we actually had one.
Then again, it was just a thought. :o
87ElCamino 10-15-2003, 05:28 PM OK, since it's a democracy lets have a vote. My vote would be for a cherry red, tubbed, 60 Elky Pro Street with white ghost flames powered by a nice Cadillac 500.
Any one else want to nominate a combo for the ECC 2003 "Cyber Elky"?

ElkyPete 10-16-2003, 09:21 AM I'll get to the body and colors later here is what I would like to see, my vote or 0.10 worth.

Believe it or not 70,000.00 is pretty conservitive it seems like. Fine piece of weekend fun. "Bout' the same, price wise, as a New Bass Boat!" Definatly would be the last car I ever purchased, my wife would kill me. But what a way to go! 8-)
Hey Dan;
I'm guessing you're not going to let me come there to help you tub your newest project...could be a screamer! Whatda think? Have sawzall, will travel.

My post was a joke against a link from coldbastrd to a fairly rough '60 for sale. The '60 I posted was featured in Car Craft a couple of years ago.
My project car was a '59, now sold, which I prefer over the '60 model.
Here's an optional '60 body for the cyber project:
