Well, just curious as to what sort of tires you guys are running on your 5th gen elky's? I've got an 83 conquista, and right now its got 235-60-15's but they rub a little in the front. I've got the bf goodrich radial t/a's i am pretty happy with them, but im looking to get something a little different size wise. How many of you run different size tires in the front/rear? my dad is stuck on getting the same size all the way around for rotating purposes...but i would much rather just get wider in the back and a little smaller in the front. any reccomendations on tires are welcome as well, i'd realy like to keep my raised white letters.

Is your elky your daily driver? If so you may want to keep the same size so you don't have to buy tires all the time, unless of course you don't care about buying them then i'd say get the different sizes.

I have BFG 235/60/15 on my 87. On my 79, I used to have 245/60/15 in the back with a 1/4" wheel spacer and 225/60/15 on the front but switched to 225/60/15 all around for the ease of tire rotation. I had 205/75/14 with stock rally rims on my 80.

I guess I have the most radical rake. I run B.F. Goodrich TA radials. 215/60/15 on the front, and 275/60/15 on the back. Airlift 1000 bags on the back, plus 5/16 spacers, take care of any clearance problems.

I have 225/45/17s on the front and 255/40/17s rear and is lowered a inch & half. and my car handles better than my firebird and still is a good ride.

yah, it is my daily driver.....ernie, did you have any problems with the front tires rubbing on 235/60/15 because thats what i run and i had some minor rubbing during turns. thanks for all the input guys, much appriciated i guess ill just have to settle for same size all around, and maybe i can invest in some nice tires just for the strip

What do you have on your 76?

I have BFG P235 60 15s and American Eagle Alloys 203s 16X8" with a 4" backspacing. The 235 series are taller than the original tires but still leave a lot of room in the fenderwells. I could probably run 50 series tires on it also.

Sounds great. I am going to be running 18X8's with around 255/35's all around on mine.

I know everyone has their own "look" they like. There is someone locally that has a 5th generation Elky that has I think, 20" wheels on it. They are gold spoke and to me, look stupid on the truck. It looks like a big Radio Flyer Wagon or an old horse drawn wagon but not an El Camino.

I wouldn't go over 16" but then that is just me. Its just as easy to fill the fender wells by lowering the truck just a little bit. I have to say that I am not a big fan of the 20" wheels they put on a lot of full sized pickups also. They are just too big for my taste.

But like I said everyone has a look that they want to achieve. I am not trying to criticize your taste or talk you out of doing something just "running my head" mostly.
