I need to change some lightbulbs in my instrument cluster. Is it a pain in the butt? I can still kind of read my speedometer at night if I really try but after dark I have no idea how much fuel I have remaining.

Good question. I know they must be different with the year car. I was wondering the same but for a different reason for me. With my '70 I was wondering how hard it was to remove the big plastic instrument cover because of all the dust that is behind it from all these years. When I clean my dash I hate the fact I can't reach and clean it. At night the dust back there can also hinder the clearity of the lights.

Yes, it's a minor PITA. I replaced the bulbs in my 86 MCSS cluster about six months ago. It's possible to replace all of the bulbs without completly removing the cluster in about an hour. You'll still have to disassemble the cluster quite a bit to get at all of the bulbs including removing the center gauges. However, I'd recommend removing the cluster from the dash to clean all of the bulb socket connections to the circut board. They just twist in place and can loose their grip causing an intermittant condition on some of the bulbs. BT DT. While the cluster is out you can also clean the connections for the cluster to dash harness. It's a 2-3 hour job to do it right.

It's well worth it to use the brighter bulbs while you are at it.
