Replacing the nylon bushings on the shift linkage would help alot.

As CHVYPWR stated, other than changing the old and probably well worn nylon bushings to new nylon or possibly steel bushings, to tighten up the linkage a bit, not much! I'm not sure if Hurst makes a short throw shifter for a 3 speed. But they do make one heck of a shifter for 4 speed or 5 speed trannys. Have you considered a trans swap? Check Summit Racing for the bushings.

When I first read your post I assumed you meant you had a 3 speed manual. I see that is not the case.

no i do have a 3 speed manual i realize that if i do ever do an engine swap i would have to replace it but it was just something i consider someday in the long run

You can frim up the shifts on your automatic with a shift kit. Is that what you are asking?

yeah pretty much what is happening is when i shift its like the old truck style of transmission and id rather have it quick and not as far to reach like a racing 5 speed
