I have a 1983 Super Sport El Camino. I am having trouble locating the RPO plate on the body itself. I have found the cowl tag, but the numbers on it do not match up to any GM RPO codes. My cowl tag starts with 04D instead of 83, as it should being that it is a 1983 model. I found my build sheet under my driver seat with the Z15(SS) code along will all of my other options. Is there another location for the RPO plate for the '83 model year? I did not find it in the glovebox either. I know I have a real SS as the VIN on the buildsheet matches my Elky's VIN, but I would like to find the plate. Thanks alot.

Its a vinyl sticker not a metal plate. Should be in the glove box or jack storage area.

I won't be back home till Sunday to look at it, but I'll check for it again then. If it is where the spare is, would it be under the carpet/insulation?

No, the white label should be in plain sight. I would think its in the glove box but I am not sure.
