Steve, Although I haven't tried the 5star, I wouldn't think of it as the only way to go. I've been at it for 35 years, and I'll tell ya, I've never tried anything that can even come close to the Zaino system. It's just that good.

You don't even need the Zaino "system" !!!

A bottle of Z5 and a bottle of thier detailing spray is all it takes.

I converted to it from Mcquires. When somebody tells me about a wax/polish now I ask them if it's better than Zaino. If they can't say yes, then I'll be on my way.

Zaino is ok, I have two black daily drivers, one has 4 layers of zaino the other one has pinnacle souveran carnuba. Now I followed the directions on zaino ,spent the better part of 2 days with zaino, and the shine on the carnuba was wetter and deeper than zaino, and after washing both the zaino had a hazy appearance the carnuba didnt. The other problems are cleaning bugs off which removes the zaino after using bug remover and recoating the zaino ,itjust didnt act and look the same as the original finish ,it was hazy. Now it has been 6 months and the beading is almost non existance, which is a long time, the carnuba has been gone! But I dont think I can spend 2 days zainoing again when I can carnuba in about an hour, both cars are garage kept. That brings up the 5star shine , they talk like it lasts for 5 years? Even 2 would be worth it. And only takes a couple of hours. Shall I be the guinea pig?

To me this means you did something wrong. I'd say first off your surface was not properly prepared, a properly preped suface is the #1 factor to attaining a good shine. Wash and clay the cars and be sure all wax and polish are off. Then using Z2 or Z5 with ZFX apply a VERY THIN layer, so thin as it's almost not there. My rule of thumb is a dime sized drop on the applicator for about four square feet. Once cured buff it off and apply a thin spray of Z8. Then apply a second coat of polish and repeat the buffing process.

Wait 24 hours and give one more THIN(!!!) coat.

Then begin applying coats of Zaino every 3 to 4 weeks with touch ups using Z8 when desired. Maintaining tha car this way makes for very little work, believe me.

And no polish lasts six months no matter what the hype says. Zaino is not known for it's durability over time so if you polish once a month you'll maintain plenty of protection.

This is what a properly Zainoed car looks like!

Leo, Im sure I put the zaino on a little heavy,A dime size of zaino didnt even do one sq. ft. The applicator sucked most of it up, and when I moistened the applicator , the wax seemed washed out. I did clay the car, which I think actually left some streaks. I just bought a PC7424, should I remove the wax or most of it by hand and thenrun the PC over it? I think this might give me more mileage on my pads, does this sound right? When I removed the wax previously, it seemed like it was also leaving some smearing residue, even using large cotton towels. I have the zaino kit that has the accelerator. So, after wash then clay what type of cleaner polish should I use with the PC, before I begin the zaino process? This all can get very confusing, especially when you apply the wax so thin that you cant even see it, so again I am sure I used too much. And the directions with zaino, to me seemed a little confusing, too many combinations and choices of what to use and when, Z2 and Z5 etc. Yea ,Im willing to use zaino again ,especially since I have some left. Any advice would be appreciated.

I only use Z5 and the detail spray(Z8?),but that's on new paint or clay bared/machine glazed paint. I only use the Z5 once a year and the detail spray for shows and cruise-ins. My elky does live indoors though, and I could go longer without a fresh coat of Z5.

I think the accelerator is unnecessary, a friend of mine uses the accelerator and my car stays good just as long as his.

I do use more than you're supposed to!!! I like to get the applicator wet enough to see the wax go on with a little haze. After letting it "cure" for at least 30 minutes I just wipe it off, another coat or two for good measure if you want can actually give an even deeper shine.

Because I've used it for so long on my elky I've gotten used to it's shine. I decided to put in on my daily driver Silverado(I bought used)and see how it looked. I did use Mcquires Mirror glaze with a foam pad on my buffer to clean the paint first. But I gotta tell ya, after one coat of Z5, WOW!!! I remembered why I started using it in the first place!!! The Pewter paint on my Silverado never looked better!!!
