The "NEW" Orangeburg dragstrip will have it's first event Sept. 15 and 16 !!! There will be test and tune sesions from 7-10 both days, "FREE", to participants and spectators !!! :!:

The new owner has vowed to keep unsafe cars off the track and improve security(keep out the gangsters). The track is concrete all the way down and features brand new facilities!!! :)

Good to hear about a dragstrip being re-opened, even if it's nowhere near me. So many famous and not-so-famous racetracks, both drag and circle track have been closed in recent years due to housing complaints it's sickening.

Support your local tracks and keep them open!!!

Is that going to be a 1/4 mi. track - I didn't see it listed on the link?
Any other known 1/4 mi tracks in South SC or South GA - the 1/8 mi. SAVANNAH Dragway here is in legal battles (over noise or some such BS) & may get shut down. I heard of a strip near Ludowici GA - but don't know it's length.

The track in Jackson SC runs 1/8 and 1/4 mile, Darlington is 1/4 mile. South Ga Motorsports Park is 1/4 mile, stopped there on the power tour, nice track!!!
