I have found a set of 1989- 16 inch Iroc Wheels (doubel stripe) , fronts and backs. I want to use them on my 87 el camino with stock suspension. What im not sure of and i see various pics of other members cars with iroc rims....
1. will these fit without any spacers and mods?
2. what tire do you recommend to assure no rubbing and interference?

Thanks for the advice on this .... :)

Check the backspacing. If it is a "set" from an IROC the front and rear have different backspacing. You really need four front wheels.

Ernie, fronts are 4 1/2 backspace and rears are 5 1/8 backspace.

Any thoughts from the team on issues with fronts and backs on an 87?

5 1/8" backspacing wont work. Some ECC members have put the fronts on the rear, and the rears with the 5 1/8" backspacing on the front with spacers and longer wheel studs. Personally, I'd look for two more fronts.

Ernie, thanks for the advise - im inclinded to agree with you...id go for the fronts all the way around.

I believe then the 16 in tires 225 - 245/ 50's should work fine all the way around - clear with no issues?

Thoughts on this ?

I see several sets of wheels on ebay - i may have to go for full sets to get the 4 fronts - ill refinsh them for the color i need.

Thanks again and anyone with 88-90 IROC wheels for sale - PM me or email.

Thanks in advance....

245 is OK on the back but they might rub at full turn in the front. I've got 235/60/15 all around and they don't rub.

Before you buy another set, try fitting the rear wheels on the front with about a 1/4'' spacer (a spacer is used for the IROC wheels on the rear). They may clear depending on the stance of your Elky and the width of the tires. I have GTA Trans Am wheels (same width and backspacing) and it appears this may work, although I haven't actually driven the car yet with them on. It's worth a try. I did get 4 GTA fronts although, because it was really close on clearance.

Looks like ill do the 4 fronts of the iroc wheels - i found a place called motomotion - in OHIO that reconditions the wheels also - media blast, powdercoat to your color, remachine the surface, and the final clear coat - 3 yr warranty.....really nice job....check the web site out...

Just need to decide on the tires...i like the fact of the same size all the way around so i can rotate the tires and rims...may have to go witht he 60 series vs the 50 series.....any more advise on the tires?

Suspension is stock and will stay that way...appreciate all the help...thank you

I have run into the same problem. i always wondered why people were selling 4 front 16" irocs on ebay now i know why. Im hoping the stock iroc spacers with the rear tires on the front idea will work. I know they make adaptors if you want to keep the rear tires on the back but what size adaptor would i need. I know alot of you are against the whole adapter thing but its only temporary. If i remember the guy said 2 1/2 inch spacer/adaptor for the back.
