I'm a newbie to the site, so hello everyone :)
Anyway, I don't work on my car yet. It's an '85 El Camino my husband and I inherited from his father. We've been having some problems with the transmission lately- it's been struggling to get into 2nd-but other than that it's been running pretty good.
Today it just wouldn't start. No sound at all. Nothing. We got a new battery at Kragen and that didn't help. It was 80 bucks too, and I don't know if I can return it. The coolent was almost out, so I refilled it, but that didn't help either.
Anyway, what are possible things that could be wrong with my car?

8) Welcome to the site! Do you have any lights or power to the dash? If you do then it could be a bad connection at the starter, or at where the ground fastened to the engine or maybe even a bad starter. Could be a burnt fusable link on the starter wire. You might try putting the car in neutral and try starting in case the shift linkage might be off. Try some of these things and get back to us. I'm sure some others will jump in here too with other ideas! :cool:

Yes, I have lights on the dash and cabin. I tried starting it in neutral and it didn't work. I don't know how to check that other stuff you said. Is it easily accessable?

8-) Welcome to your nitemare does it try to start at all if not pull the starter and take it to kragns and have it checked make so all your connections are clean and tight. Let us know how its going.

Pull the starter out? I think I'm going to have to get someone who knows more about cars then myself to do that. I'll let you guys know what they say at Kragen.
