i just got through replacing the oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets on my '79 elky. i took the starter off so i could get to the pan bolts easier. i have it all buttoned up now, with everything back the way it was... but now the bindex won't even shoot when i turn the key. any advice??

Ist it trying to start? If not check the wires.

yeah, i've checked the wires and everything. it's all legit. it doesn't even try to turn over.

You probably hooked up the small wire to the wrong terminal on the starter. There is one large wire, from the battery, and all of the fusible links hooked to one terminal and the smaller wire (purple I think) hooked to a small terminal. There are two small terminals. You probably hooked it to the wrong one.
