I just got my set a couple of weeks ago and they dont need bushings 8O , I was also wandering what you guys think about the poly bushings, I will need to change for my lower fronts and upper rears. The only thing I recall is people say they are noisy.

I installed tubular upper rear control arms with a heim joint on the body side and a poly bushing on the axle. I thought they would be noisy but they are just as quiet as the stock rubber bushings.

"Just sprinkle me withe some Crack Bits" That is funny. By the way NOWUKnow tight El Co. and like the Mesh Grill if that is what it is. When I can get the time to upload mine I will.

As far as the tubular A arms, G Body says they are going like hot cakes, Bryan says they were originally made for the exhaust heat wearing out the bushings and I can attest to that, my Grand National and my buddies all pull to the side because of this so I will have to get some for the GN also.
The Poly bushings should be nice, but what does the Heim joint do or add to, Mrappi?

What brand arms did you get? I have global west on the front and jegs uppers with heims on the rear.

The heims do not flex. They offer easy adjustment and dont wear out. I disagree with anyone who says heims increase ride stiffness. What they really do is force your springs/shocks to manage 100% of the suspension harmoics like they should. Why build a suspension with performance geometry only to have the bushing flexing when you need it the most.

Another good option for performance applications is global west's delrin bushings. They are made from a nylon like material that doesn't flex, has slippery properties and are heat resistent.

With the stock four arm setup on the elky, when one side of the axle moves up or down it wants to bind the suspension because every bushing point is on a different plane. The stock rubber bushings just flex so its no big deal. When you put in poly bushings they do not flex. So what happens in hard cornering is that the axle not being allowed to flex- it binds and unloads (trys to lift) the inside tire decreasing traction.

These limitations are why I am installing the "truck-arm"setup in my elky.

They allow for a better ride due to the very long arc of the arms. They also use weight jacks which allow for very easy ride height adjustment and the panhard bar positively locates the axle side to side. Using only two arms on the same plane allows for articulation. I am exited to see how it turns out.

If your not familiar with the type of suspension just flip any NASCAR over and there it is.

Heres the link to what I have, made by Gbodyparts

I have the metco rear lowers on my Grand National, but decided to save a little money and went with the spohn rear lowers with air bags and a spacer kit. Now I am going to replace the upper bushings in the rear and lower bushings in the front.
And thanks for the info on the bushings.

Heim joints don't wear out?

Allright -Everything eventually wears out. But if you get a good quality 3-piece chromoly with rubber "seals" and good wheel bearing grease I'd bet they will outlive the car.
